Off to spend the weekend in Nashville ~

Me and my hubby Steve are getting ready to head to Nashville to spend the weekend doing some fun stuff.. today we are going to Nashville Shores which is a waterpark.. we were going to go to the race tonight, but they are calling for rain, so we decided against that.. if the race is on, we can watch it at the hotel.. tomorrow we are going to spend the day at Opry Mills walking around and browsing the shops.. it's been years since we went there.. I am looking forward to going to the book store and somewhere on Opry Mills Dr. is supposed to be a Scrapbook Warehouse, not sure if it's still there or not. but we are going to look for it. Bass Pro Shops is on the list too.. what would a trip be if there is a Bass Pro Shops within eye shot and you don't go in!

Happy Weekend everybody!

Welcome from Tennessee~

Hi Everybody.. I got here to Clarksville, TN last night around 7 or so.. today we spent some time driving around Ft. Campbell looking at some things that had changed since I was last here. It's super HOT here today.. the temp thing in the truck said it was 101 degrees and that was around 1:30 p.m. My husband Steve is still in Missouri ~ his leave starts on the 1st and then he's going to the U.P. of Michigan to the little town of Curtis to visit with his grandma for a week.

We are hoping to get some cards made soon.. as soon as I get to stamping (which I am wanting to do soon since it's been a while) I will post some pictures.

have a wonderful day!

4th of July Card I made a few days ago ~

Stampin UP Airbornewife Patriotic USA Well Worn Alphabet Star Punches Independence DAy

I made this Happy 4th of July card the other day after I made the other patriotic card.. I love anything Red, White and Blue and love to celebrate America's birthday on July 4th. This card was made using the scraps I had left over from the other card... I used the star cut out that was from when I punched out the other stars.. and used it asn an element for the card.

Another quick card before heading off to bed...

True Friend Stampin UP rubber stamp set airbornewife
We are moving in a week and a half and I am trying to find some card layouts/designs that I can easily pack all the supplies for so that I can make many while we are in TN on leave, to make for deployed military. This is a card that I made in a matter of minutes, so I think that I will use this design.. it is one that is in the Spring/Summer catalog.. I put the Thank U stamp on it instead of the friend one. What do you think? think that someone would like to receive this card?

Covered Notebook for Military Spouse

live your dream stampin up military spouse gift
I signed up for a special kind of swap, whereas you pack a goodie box of things to send a military spouse whose loved one is deployed. I bought a notepad and covered it with Groovy Guava paper, then embellished it with some stamped images from Live Your Dream, some dreamy Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon and some brads. I have a bunch of other things to put in the box, along with some cards I had stamped (one me and my mom stamped a few weeks ago when she was here to visit) I thought they would be nice for them to send to their loved one, friend or family.

My Father's Day card for my wonderful hubby ~

My children are so blessed to have such a wonderful Dad ~ as I am blessed to have him as my husband. He is my best friend in the whole wide world. Today we are taking it easy because we kinda got sunburned yesterday ~ even after spraying ourselves several times with the sunscreen ~ the kids are at Grandma & Grandpa's house (Hi Everybody!!) so we are just taking it easy. I made this card to give to my golf loving husband ~ he would golf every day if it was possible.. I used some of the colors that are soon to retire.

Fore Stampin UP golf airbornewife

The stamp set is Fore, a retired Stampin' UP! stamp set. I used River Rock for the Base, Western Sky for the Designer Series Paper, Blue Bayou ink and card stock, Soft Sky for the square under the Happy Father's Day tag ~ after I stamped the saying, I punched the tag out once.. then glued a tiny strip of card stock to the back of the tag and put it back in the punch the other way and punched it again to get the corners all punched off the same ~ then layered it on the square. Nothing fancy.. but it has a golf theme, so I knew he'd love it.

KWerner Color Inspiration #11 ~ what a fun color combo!!

I probably wouldn't pick these colors for a card, but they sure where fun to work with.. I am pretty tired so I wasn't sure what was going to come out in the mix.. but I like it and will add it to my stash to send to a deployed service member. Please remember them and their families each day and thank a Veteran for their service.

Okay... here's my card!!

What do you think?? I hope everybody has a wonderful weekend ~ me and my hubby are going to take the boat and head to Lake of the Ozarks to Bagnell Dam for some fishing tomorrow. This will be our last time to go fishing while we are here in Missouri... less than two weeks and we'll be on our way to Tennessee for some much needed and deserved leave time and then onto North Carolina.

Card inspired by one in SU magazine

Stampin Up Free & The Brave Independence Day Well Worn Alphabet Eagle Patriotic America USA
Ah... I love anything Patriotic.. and as soon as I seen the July issue of Stampin' Success this morning online and seen the piece that they had in the Artwork section.. I stopped right then to print it off so that I could make something along the same lines.. perfect card to send to troops. Since we are moving soon, I am going to figure out what all I need and make an extra order to get all the supplies I don't have and take it with me while we are on leave and make many, many cards for troops ~ what do you think?? Thank you to whoever it was at SU that came up with the original idea.. I had to change a few things because I didn't either have it, or because I needed to make this on a smaller scale to fit on a card.. they used chipboard for the star in the original one ~ the finished piece was 5x7 size as well.

stampin up live your dream rubber stamp set
Today I made time to get cards finished up, put in envelopes, addressed, stamped and in the mail.. thank you's for my daughter's graduation gifts. I wanted to do them last week and never could get time to do them.. nor could I find my desk, it was buried under a massive pile of stuff.. it's cleared off now and I did find time a few days ago to stamp and to stamp last night.. I stamped some images and colored them but didn't do anything with them just yet.. The turquoise card was one that I made when my mom was visiting..

Casing a card because I really liked it! Live Your Dream

stampin up live your dream rubber stamp set airbornewife
I seen a card on Cindy Haffner's blog a week or so ago and just loved it.. I need to make some thank you cards and have been so bogged down with getting ready for the yard sale that was today and doing my ebay listings, that I didn't have much creative spirit in me.. after a long day of the yard sale.. er.. well about 5 1/2 hrs.. we got up at 5 and started setting up.. by 6:15 I looked up and there was four cars in a caravan coming down the street, parked in front of my house and hopped out to come shopping.. we did VERY good and had about 15 large tables.. 6 were 8ft. tables and the rest were 6 footers.. they were all full and we had some boxes and tubs full sitting in front of them.. by 10 we were down to four tables.. that was all .. we were nickel and diming it by then so we said enough! my face was red, I was sunburned and worn out. we packed up what little we had left and took it to a local charity.

I did manage to get the card stamped and made that was all inspired by Cindy's card on her blog:

I am off to bed now.. I am worn out from the heat and we are going on a canoe float trip tomorrow down the Big Piney here on Fort Leonard Wood.

Happy Stamping everybody!

32+ Americana Cards for Deployed Troops!!!

This afternoon me and my mom set out to make some cards for deployed troops to send to Keith who operates the Angel Stampers For Soldierswebsite. We was trying to hurry because we wanted to get them in the mail, so the cards weren't overally involved.. but turned out really nice and I hope that the troops enjoy them. The theme is "Americana" and they are all Red, White and Blue!!! We made 32+ we weren't sure of the number.. as soon as we took the picture, they went into envelopes and into the mail on their way to Florida... thanks for looking and reading, Pam

Super Busy Week ~ GRADUATION!!! Family visiting!!! Wahoo!!

What a week ~ my Mom & Dad arrived on Thursday afternoon and brought my nephew with them. Then on Friday night my oldest daughter Heather graduated High School ~ Way to go Heather!!!! it's been a whirlwind weekend to say the least.. plus everybody has such bad allergies right now ~ so we're dealing with that.

Me and my mom have been doing some stamping. I signed up for the free class planner that Andrea Walford is offering to Stampin' UP! Demos ~ wow! I will be back to purchase some other the other planners.. this one is awesome! If you are a demo, be sure to visit her site: CLASS PLANNER I was so tired last night, but I cut out all the cardstock ~ I have NEVER cut that much ever ~ I usually just cut for myself alone.. so that was a first. Then we went about making the cards.

My hubby, dad, son and nephew had planned a weekend full of camping at Stockton Lake, Missouri.. however a storm moved in yesterday afternoon and they came home.. so now they are trying to get everything put away and cleaned up and are going to try some fishing here locally at the Big Piney or Roubidoux Creek ~ I hope they catch some. They caught lots of Crappie and some Bass while at Stockton Lake (which is a beautiful lake).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. A big thank you to those of you who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.. I have no way to repay you but to say thank you. May God Bless each and every one of you.

Thinking of You card for my husband's Aunt

In February we got some bad news ~ two days in a row. Two of my husband's Uncles had died. One had been battling cancer for quite a while and the other died of a heart attack. The Aunt that is married to the one that died of the heart attack is having such a hard time, they were driving home from the Sault (hope I spelled that right ~ it's in the U.P. of Michigan) maybe spelled Souix.. anyways.. they were driving home and he wasn't talking much and S. asked him if he was okay and he said that he wasn't feeling well and they went straight to the hospital. The doctor's told her to go on home to get a change of clothes, they were going to send him to another hospital, a bigger one ~ she wasn't home no time at all and someone came to tell her that he had died of a massive heart attack. Everytime I speak to my husband's grandma, she always says what a hard time S. is having ~ so I thought I would send her a card to let her know that I was thinking about her. I am going to call her tomorrow too. I can't imagine if something happened to my husband so I don't know how she is feeling, but it's something that must hurt to the core.

I was done with this about a half an hour ago.. so it took me about 2 hours to get them all done.. and that was having to take some breaks in that time because my elbow was hurting and my fingers were numb. Something I have been working on ~ Autograph Books for 4th and 5th graders

I bought a bunch of the 4 pack mini notebooks from the Dollar Tree and I wanted to cover them in cardstock and stamp on them ~ then bag them up with a pencil and some candy and give them out this week to all the 4th and 5th graders at my kiddos school.. however yesterday I found out that there are several kids that tomorrow is their last day, so instead of covering the whole book.. I am just stamping on a piece of cardsdtock ~ Thayer 07 * 08 with horses from Bareback stamped three times to look like running horses.. since the school mascot is the Mustangs. I stamped 70 of these things yesterday with the horses and the star.. and tonight (it's 9:04 pm CST right now!) I need to get them stamped, bagged and ready to go for in the morning ~ the managers at the golf course here on post donated the pencils for me to put in the baggies.. thank you! I hope the kids like them.. I'll post a picture when I get them all done.. I am going to go ask my husband if he'll put some candy and a pencil in some little ziploc baggies for me.. thanks for looking ~ wish me luck!!

Breast Cancer Awareness Card for a Special Person

Today I attended a Pampered Chef fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness. The lady who invited me has lost two family members to cancer (not breast cancer) and was donating all proceeds from today's event to the cause.. so I thought I would make her this card to tell her how wonderful it was that she did such a special thing to honor the memory of her loved ones. I was short on time, so this is what I made up for her.. All throughout the event, she kept looking at the card and kept telling me how beautiful it was and thank you ~ Me and my daughters had a great time and they each even won something!

I got all the Thank You cards done and handed out today

This week has been a flurry of activities trying to get paperwork for my daughter to keep her I.D. card. I was told this was all taken care of, but have recently found out that not to be the case.. anyways.. I have nearly all the paperwork that I need and will get it submitted.. it's just a time factor with moving, so hopefully it gets there and gets processed quickly.

I did finish all the birthday thank you cards for the kids that came to my son's birthday party.. there are four more not in the picture.. my desk is a mess (as you can see in the background!) and so I set them to the side.. some of the fish were colored in using markers, some using ink pads and aquapainters.. they all have clear glaze on some part of the fish.. they really turned out cute. Tomorrow is D.A.R.E and Friday I am getting together with a couple of ladies whose kiddos go to my kiddos school, to have coffee (they'll have coffee, I'll have my regular Coca-Cola) in the morning after we drop the kids off at school.

I hope that everyone is having a fun filled day ~ the weather here in Missouri is BEAUtiful today!

Thank You card for kids who came to Pool Party

Yesterday we had a pool party from 6-8 pm.. we had a BLAST!!! There was so many people that came.. we had the entire pool to our party!!! I sent out invitations to all the kids in both fourth grade classes, both fifth grade classes, and my oldest daughter's class.. I don't know how many people there were, but it was a great turnout. The party was a combination Jackson's birthday party and and End of School Year party.. Everyone had a great time. We had a big cake.

Big bowls of chips, chex mix and doritos (Jackson's fav!) a big tray of candy and a cooler full of Kool-Aid Koolers drinks. Many of the kids that came brought Jackson
a birthday gift so I am going to make thank you cards for him to give to them as a word of thanks ~ in each card I am going to include a picture of the group that I took near the end of the party ~ I had them all gather in the shallow end and took a group picture, then had them make funny faces and then they all wanted to go under water, so I got some of that too! they had so much fun, if they could've they would've swam for another two hours ~ for sure!

This is the first card I made.. on all the others I won't be putting glitter and I will be coloring in the fish with markers instead and using some crystal effects/clear glaze on some parts of the fish.

SC175 Father's Day Puppy Dog Card

I started this card days ago when the challenge was first posted, but so many things came up and I couldn't get it finished.. tonight I finally did.. however after I had put the twill on the card.. I realized I had wanted to heat emboss some stamped images on the half circles.. oh well... next time

I colored the puppy dog in with Prismacolor Pencils and used the Prismacolor blender pencil to move the colors around. I stamped and colored the puppy twice and then cut one out to layer on top of the other.. and used some clear glaze on some parts. I kept the paper that came off the back of the stamp when I mounted it.. because the stamps were diecut.. so I stamped the image on it and then trimmed it so I would have a mask.. I then used a sponge to sponge in the background.

Any Takers? FREE Stamp Set (CLAIMED!)

FREE set has been claimed ~ thanks Jen! happy stamping ~ Pam

Sometime last year Close to My Heart had thirty days of tips and had a give away for a free My Acrylix stamp set called Beauty. This past weekend when I was going through some pieces of mail to shred, I found the envelope that was sent to me that had the stamp set in it. I am not a fan of unmounted stamps, so I thought I would post here to see if there is anybody that would like me to mail them the set. I don't think that I can take a picture of it and post it here because of the internet rules for CTMH ~ the set is flowers, the word Beauty and a leaf, there's a circle for the center of the flower as well. Let me know if you want it and I'll send it off to you ~ happy stamping! Pam

Teacher Thank You Apple Card

This is a card that I will give to one of my youngest children's teachers ~ I was messing around this afternoon cleaning up from the stamping I did last night and came up with this card.

I used Real Red for the card base.. off setting the front of the card.. down the right side I used the empressor and mat pack template to emboss the cirles down the edge.. tag punches with apples stamped on the confetti white squares.. I used some chunky glitter attached with glue ~ ribbon and brads across the strips.. thank you on ovals.

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

Birthday Card for my 10 year old Son

On May the 5th my youngest son turns 10!!! Tonight I made this card for him ~ It's quite colorful~ I hope he likes it. I used Pun Fun (which I finally broke down and bought ~ hey, I got a free wheel with it, so it was a good deal!) ~ East Coast Prep paper, along with Real Red, More Mustard, Wild Wasabi and Tempting Turquoise cardstock.. I used watercolor paper for the main image and used a versamark marker to color in part of the space ship and put crystal embossing powder on it ~ I got my new Ribbon scissors and I LOVE them ~ they are worth every penny (they were a lot of pennies, but so worth it!)

It's been a long day and I am heading to bed, but wanted to finish this before heading that way.

Live Your Dreams Afternoon Tea Favorite Card

I spent hours one night making this card.. I used my versamarker pen and colored in the flowers and leaves on the DSP and embossed it with clear embossing powder.. I stamped and embossed the flowers and cut them out to layer on the card.. I used the new twill ribbon (with is SO nice) it's in the Occasions Mini Catalog that is extended til June 30th. When I went to the Stampin' UP! Tulsa Regionals.. the night before I went to a Spaghetti Dinner SCS gathering and I took Greetings Galore stamp set as a door prize.. and attached this card with it. I sponged everything too! it was a fun card to make.. I think it took me so long because I kept changing my mind as I was making it.

Miscellaneous Cards using Touch of Nature and another

These are some cards that I had made up to take to a stamping gathering with some stamper friends of mine.. I had seen a card on Beate John's blog a while back and that morning I used the layout to make up the card ~ the others followed. I cut enough stuff for everybody to make two cards.. I used my Copic Markers on the flower/butterfly/bird.

Busy, Busy Week! Embrace Life Flowered Birthday Card

What a week.. I have been so busy.. I did get some stamping in, but it was for a Patriotic Card swap that I am in on SCS.. I finished them last night and have them ready to mail out this week. I needed a birthday card to send out today and found one of this card that I had made for a swap a few months ago.. I liked it so much that I made some extras to have on hand.. I used the last one I had so I need to make some more if I still have some of the flowered Designer Series Ginger Blossoms Paper ~ I might've used it all on the card swaps I made.

I used In Color Groovy Guava on this card along with Ruby Red.. there is Irridescent Ice Glitter on the flowers too.

You Made My Day Fluffles Card

I told someone on SCS that I would stamp them some images of this stamp of Fluffles, so after I had stamped the images for them, I decide to stamp a couple for myself. I colored in two images, and then put some clear glaze on some parts of one and then cut some parts of one to layer onto the other ~ this is the last of my Ruby Red cardstock.. good thing a big order is coming tomorrow so I won't be without for long. Ruby Red, River Rock, Blue Bayou, Very Vanilla and Western Sky DSP are the papers used, stamps are Fluffles and Stampin' UP! Stem Sayings ~ I used a slit punch for the scallop border. and my favorite... Dimensionals!!! no card should be without them!

Something for someone special

There is a lady who works at the food pantry at a local thrift shop that I donate food to. She went to Australia this past two weeks to visit her grandchildren. She is returning on Tuesday and when I was in the store last week I heard her daughter, who has taken her job while she is gone, mention that she wanted to buy a card for everybody to sign.. the other lady aske me if I would make something for her.. and I said of course I would. It's 12 x 12 size. I am going to put it in a plastic sleeve when everybody signs it so that she can hang it up. Nothing fancy.. just a Welcome Back to the Pantry (which is what her daughter wanted it to say) and some places for people to sign a little note. I hope she likes it.

Special Olympics and a handstamped card

Today was a very special day for my oldest daughter Heather ~ today was Special Olympics Track and Field. She participated in three events and was awarded a ribbon and two medals. I am so proud of her ~ it was so much fun to get to watch her and the others having so much fun. The volunteers were so great with all the kids too ~ thank you.

I did make a card tonight.. it started with a stamped image that I watercolored and then grabbed some cardstock I already had cut.. then some pattern paper and I had to change to another stamped image because I didn't think the first one went with the paper.. I have so much going on on this card that it made my head spin! just kidding.. I used the stamp set Essence of Love that is in the Occasions Mini SU catalog. Taken with Teal, Summer Sun and Confetti Cream Cardstock.. some pattern paper from Wild Asparagus that I trimmed around the design.. inked the edges (inked the edges of everything, even the ribbon).. then I stamped over with French Script and the weeds and butterfly.. on the main image I stamped the weeds/flower stamp.. then stamped the butterfly in versamark and used clear embossing powder.. then took a sponge over it.. nothing fancy.. just many different things.. probably because of the busy day I have had.. I thought I needed a busy card! ha ha..

tomorrow I am hoping that I can get some cards made for deployed troops.. I did send a PM to a lady on SCS saying I wanted to send some to her to send to troops too.. so I got to get busy stamping.

Thank you Soldier Card

I just love this stamp image of the soldier with the flag in the background ~ I am so glad that Stampin' UP! came out with a new military set.

I used Blue Bayou and River Rock on this card, along with some Western Sky DSP.

I punched the scallop punch out and then punched it again on the scallops to create the small peaks. I had a long piece of cardstock that I put some adhesive on the back of it and then the back of the scallop so that I could put back into the punch to repunch it.

The soldier image is embossed in clear embossing powder.

Celebrate 4th of July Patriotic Card

I signed up for a Patriotic Card Swap on SCS the other day and tonight thought I would make up a card ~ that might, or might not end up being the card I make for the swaps.. this one took some time.. I was using my stamp-a-mi-jig and had stamped the little dot to fill in the cirles.. but must've not stamped it right because it was off.. so I had to restamp it and then realized I could eyeball it and that is how I did the rest.. on the first one I used a white marker to try and cover up my boo boo. I used several sets on this card.. Celebrate Everything, Mark the Date, Full Calendar, All In a Row and Independence Day. Cardstock colors are: River Rock, Blue Bayou, Ruby Red, Whisper White and Western Sky DSP. I used inks in the colors of River Rock, Ruby Red, and Blue Bayou. Circle Punches and some Linen Thread ~ and of course Dimensionals!!! my favorite thing in the stamping world.

It's been a very long day.. our FRG (Family Readiness Group) held a Battalion Family Picnic today and it was chilly and windy.. and then finally the sun came out. We had a lot of fun and some really good food. I took over 600 photos that I will need to sort through.. I took some of everybody and all the games, etc.. it was a blast!

SC172 Embrace Life Card

Ahhhh.. what a night ~ I am getting to watch the St. Louis Cardinal's (on a muted TV) and am getting to listen to the Detroit Red Wings (via Red Wings radio on the internet) and am a happy girl.. well at least I was when there was one minute left in the hockey game and Nashville scored a goal to tie the game... ugh! I decided to get in some stamping while I watched and listened and also wanted to try out the markers with aquapainter on watercolor paper and this is what I ended up with.

I used the sketch challenge 172 on SCS for this card as well.

Randy Pausch Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

If you have the time.. this is a must watch video.

From Youtube: Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. For more, visit www.cmu.edu/randyslecture.

"Journeys" are special University Lectures in which Carnegie Mellon faculty members share their reflections on their journeys -- the everyday actions, decisions, challenges and joys that make a life.

I have a bad pancreas, but do not have cancer ~ this man is such an inspiration to many people. God Bless you and your family Mr. Pausch.
