WINNER, WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!! Blog Candy Giveaway Drawing

What a weekend...  the Coca-Cola 600 race was awesome!!    my favorite driver Jimmie Johnson won.  This is the second race I have attended that he's been on the pole and won.

Yesterday morning we went to Chic-Fil-a for lunch and who walks in ~ Kurt Bush, his girlfriend and her son.  I went to chat with them all and thanked him for what he does for the military and congratulated him on his awesome finish in the Indianapolis 500.    Pretty neat start to my day.

anyways...   I was pretty tired this morning so I am just now getting around to "getting up!" and being motivated to do things... and first up I wanted to get winner selected for the Blog Candy Giveaway.

I did a Random.org thingy.. it picked #27..    I counted down the comments ~ only counting double comments once.. and the winner is:

Before I go..  I really would like to know if I did this again if you would be interested in a "card kit" giveaway?   Please leave a comment and let me know.. I really am interested in knowing and am game to put more kits together.

Have a Blessed Day!!

Super Easy Balloon Cards:

I have been seeing a lot of "Balloon" cards lately and have been wanting to make some.. but don't have a balloon die.. and I thought I'd try it using the largest Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle die that I have.

I die cut the circle out.

then embossed it with this fun Darice Star embossing folder.

For the "tab" on the balloon, I punched out a piece using a Stampin' UP! Modern Label Punch

then trimmed up a little on each side.. just that easy.. you could easily just hand cut a shape as well.

I stamped a sentiment in the lower area of the white card layer and then adhered the edge of the balloon in the upper right corner of  the card topper.. so that you see none of the white layer in that corner.. hope that makes sense.    Then I trimmed the extra card stock off the piece, adhered it onto a matching card stock piece and then onto the card base..   I did tie some twine on the tab on the balloon as well.

If you do not have dies.. you could trace out a small bowl/container.. anything round would work.

*MEASUREMENTS:

card base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

solid card stock (used for this layer and the balloon) 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
white layer:  5 1/4" x 4"

SUPPLIES:

card stock:   white and whatever colors you want to make your balloons
ink:  matching the card stock colors you choose
stamps:  I used a Papertrey Ink sentiment
accessories:  Scor-Pal, Twine, Modern Label Punch, Darice Stars embossing folder

SKETCH #123

This Memorial Day as we remember and pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice..  I wanted to share this prayer (from the internet) for our military members that serve today:

Brave warriors, should fate find us in battle, May our cause be just. May our leaders have clear vision. May our courage not falter. May we be triumphant an earn victory as we show mercy to our enemies.
May our efforts bring lasting peace. May our sacrifice be always appreciated by those we serve. May we return to our loved ones unharmed. Should we be harmed, may our wounds heal. Should we perish in the struggle, may God embrace us and find for us a place in His Kingdom.

Thanks for stopping by.

May Christmas Card Challenge complete.. 6 "FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS" cards *WITH MEASUREMENTS

I made one Christmas card earlier this month.. but had yet to  make another 4 to meet the challenge of at least 5 a month.. so tonight I decided to make 6 before the rest of the month got away from me.

These are super easy..  the striped pieces were already cut.. I just trimmed them down a little and layered them onto a navy blue layer.    The card bases are Blue Bayou, with a navy layer and then a Blue Bayou embossed layer.    I punched two circles.. layed onto them the already printed Basic Grey embellishment.

The sentiment on these aren't something I would send to OWH.. so I might send them to my mom to donate to her church bazaar sale.

**MEASUREMENTS:

card base:   5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

navy layer:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
blue embossed top layer:   5 1/4" x 4"

striped panel:  2" x 4 5/8"
 navy panel:  21/8" x 4 3/4"

circles are punches and are different sizes.. based on what you would use for a sentiment/sticker or embellishment.

48+1 "THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION AND SACRIFICE... " Bald Eagle Cards

This is one of 49 cards that I made tonight..   48 just like this one and then 1 that doesn't have the embossed panel on it.     I was going to make 30 and then thought that if I could do 30, I could do 48.. my favorite Nascar driver is #48.

supplies:

card stock:  Neenah White, Recollections Black, Park Avenue 5 Bar Panel Cards
stamps:  StampersBest Bald Eagle Portrait, Close To My Heart/CTMH Courage
ink:  Memento London Fog, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

This was the first top layer I stamped.  I wanted to see if I liked it.. I had the idea in my head and wanted to see what it looked like on paper.  The Eagle is stamped in Memento London Fog (gray) and the sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

whoa.. what a messy desk I have..  I clean it and it's a hot mess after one setting making cards..  I don't mind it as I have my space in the middle and it's all good with me.

This was when I had 30 of the card tops all complete.. just needed to layer them onto the white card bases.

Here is all 48 cards completed.. and the 1 extra to the right is the card that's below this picture.. showing the card made without using the embossed 5 Bar panel cards.

This picture shows the same card using just a 4" x 5 1/4" white top layer.

3 Quick "YOU ARE SO TOTALLY COOL" cards

Tonight while chatting about how much "paper" I have, I had been taking some picture of the bins full of 6 x 6 paper pads. As I was putting them back on the shelf, I noticed a Mat Pack that had been gifted to me last year by a good friend, and I decided to flip through it.     I pulled these guitar sheets from the pad, cut them down to size for the front of a card and mounted them onto a brown card base.  I have an Alley Edwards stamp set called Incredible that I arranged the "you are", "so totally" and "cool" stamps on a block.. and stamped some sentiments onto some cream colored card stock.  I punched them out, punched out a brown layer and attached them to the cards at an angle using dimensionals..  all done.. and they look really cool!

here's the Mat Stack.. stamp set and how I arranged the stamps on the block.

SSSC220 "WISH YOU WERE HERE" card

Last week I received an email from a lady whose son had received a card from his dad that is currently deployed and on the back of the card was a sticker with my name and contact information.  It was so very nice to read her email.  I emailed her back asking if I could send her some cards for her to send to her husband and she replied back with a "yes!"~ this card is for her.

Here is the sketch I used.. this week's SSSC220:

Patriotic "THANKS, THANKS, THANKS" card **With Sketch & Measurements

I was looking at a SU magazine that I used to receive when I was a demo.  I seen a sample on the back of it and I really liked it.. so I thought I'd case it and make a "thanks" card.

This went together really quickly as most is just punched or die-cut.. yeah!   and some stamping!!

I scribbled a sketch for the card.. and added measurements... here they are as well:

Card Base:   5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

cream layer:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
navy layer:  5 1/4" x 4"
star pattern paper layer:   5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

the navy star banner was cut at 1 1/2" wide..  I punched the end with a SU photo corner punch ~ you could just snip a fishtail end with your scissors..  it measures after punching at 4 3/8" long.

The circle was punched out with a Fiskars punch..  it's a little more than 2 3/4" in diameter.

SUPPLIES:

card stock:  Cherry Cobbler, navy, cream
pattern paper:  Authentique Pride
stamps:  MFT Say What Sentiments
accessories:  Scor-Pal, Stampin' UP! Large Punch, Fiskars Circle Punch, Stampin' UP! Photo Corner Punch, MFT Say What Dies and dimensionals

Speech Bubble Border "HELLO" cards

A week ago I purchased a set of Mama Elephant Speech Bubble dies and have been wanting to use them on some cards.   I grabbed a 6 x 6 paper pad from Echo Park called Happy Days.   The paper in the pad was about used up, but there were several full sheets and from them I cut pieces 4" x 4 1/2" and then layered a piece cut using the speech bubble border die and the "HELLO" die from Lawn Fawn.. oh gosh, how I sure like these new dies.

SUPPLIES:

card stock:  black, white
pattern paper:  Echo Park Happy Days by Lori Whitlock
accessories:  Scor-Pal, Lawn Fawn Hello Die, Mama Elephant Speech Bubble Border die and 3M Double Sided Sticky Tape (I put it behind the speech bubble part after I die-cut the Hello out,, then inlaid the word Hello.. super easy!)

I made some cards a long while back that were similar to these.. but on these, I added "HERO".

These were super duper easy to make.. and I sure do like they way they turned out.

*Measurements:

card base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

navy blue layer:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
pattern paper:  5 1/4" x 4"

white strip:  4 1/2" x 2 1/8"

I used a large Stampin' UP! star punch and I put the paper all the way into it at the bottom end..  centered it and then punched.

SUPPLIES:

card stock:  white, night of navy
pattern paper:  The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) Proud to Serve
stamps:   Paper Smooches Circle of Honor
