OWH Sketch #68 "Go CONFIDENTLY in the direction..."

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there... may you have a truly blessed day today.. and every day!

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post BLOG GIVEAWAY you could be one of two winners of an Amuse Hero Mail stamp set.

When I seen this sketch this morning on the OWH Stars & Stamps site.

I thought I'd just use some of the designer series paper I had laying here on my desk on it. This beautiful paper is from Stampin' UP! and is called Afternoon Tea. It coordinates with a stamp set Live Your Dream. Both are retired... they both are some of my favorites.

I used Early Espresso and Soft Sky card stock. The punches are from Martha Stewart ~ my hubby and kids got this for me among other things for Mother's Day... so I thought I'd get it out and get punching with it... love all the layers of loops.

Some cards I made yesterday and today....

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for the BLOG GIVEAWAY... you could be one of two winners of a Amuse Hero Mail stamp set.

God Bless The USA: I cut the shape of the United States out with my Cricut Expression using the Going Places cartridge, set on 3 1/4". I then inked up my Stampin' UP! Red, White and Blue Jumbo Wheel with Barn Red Distress Ink and wheeled it onto the Kraft card stock cut out. I sponged the edges on it. The Night of Navy layer is embossed with a Stars embossing folder. The sentiment was cut from an extra strip I inked and stamped using the wheel on a piece of Kraft card stock. I just layered the card onto Kraft and Riding Hood Red card stock, put some brads down the side and that was it.. it went together really quickly.

I Love U: I bought this Unity stamp set "Love Bug" from a fellow SCS'er the other day and while watching the OWH UStream video on Thursday night, I stamped it onto the gingham pattern paper and cut it out. I found some pieces of the cloud pattern paper in the paper box and so I stamped and cut out the window. I used a sketch from a Sketch For You To Try.
Tangerine Tango (I think that's the name of it), Bayou Blue and So Saffron are the card stock colors on this card. Punches, embossing, duplicate stamping and paper piercing was used on this card.

Thanks: I sat down at my desk tonight and seen this piece of Groovy Guava card stock sitting there and thought I'd make a card. I used a sketch layout from There She Goes 104. I used one of my favorite Stampin' UP! stamp sets Live Your Dream and some gorgeous Designer Series Paper: Afternoon Tea... ahhh. they are so beautiful and retired (boo!). I don't have a Groovy Guava ink pad anymore, so I used a distress ink pad on the flowers. I used a new Martha Stewart punch that my hubby bought for me, some beautiful Very Vanilla ribbon.. ahhhh, so pretty. Nesties on the circle and scallop. Stampin' UP! punches for the sentiment. Corner Chomper to round the corners.. that's it.. all done. I really like the way it turned out.. anything with that stamp set and paper is a favorite for me.

Military Spouse Appreciation Day and BLOG CANDY GIVEAWAY!!!

I recently ordered an adorable stamp set from Amuse titled Hero Mail. I thought it was so cute, that I ordered several sets with the intention of giving one away on my blog.. well I've decided to giveaway two of the sets. All you have to do is to leave a comment by Friday, May 13th at 9pm EST. I will pick two random names and will be posting the winners.. if your emails are available, I will email you as well.

Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day... to all my fellow military wives and husbands.. I send a big thank you for all that you do. ... I wanted to share this article from a website I frequently read from... and below that is the GIVEAWAY!!!...

(from an article posted on www.military.com)
"If the military had wanted you to have a spouse, they would have issued you one." Remember those words? Well, that was then and this is now. America's military has realized and acknowledged the significance of the military spouse. In 1984 President Reagan proclaimed the Friday before Mother's Day of each year to be Military Spouse Appreciation Day. It is your day to stand up and be honored.

For the times you've stood and watched a ship sail from the harbor, an aircraft disappear into the clouds, or a truck convoy pull out of sight, not sure when they would return, we thank you.

For the countless household moves you've made from a place you know to one that's strange and different -- often by yourself -- we thank you.

For the families you've held together, for the anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays you've celebrated alone, we thank you.

For the hand you've extended to another military spouse when the need was there, truly creating a military family, we thank you.

For the spirit and strength you've shown when your service member has gone into harm's way, we thank you.

For the pride you've displayed while serving as an ambassador of the military spouse to the rest of the world, we thank you.

Far too frequently, the sacrifices and dedication of the military spouse have gone unnoticed and unappreciated. In our nation's recent history, thousands of service members have been placed in harm's way as they stood watch as freedom's guardian. You too have stood watch at home, facing challenges alone. You have waved flags and held banners high to express your support. You have kept the candles burning on the home front as a reminder of our deployed military.

You have made difficult sacrifices of your own, and have called upon your inner reserves to nurture family life so your service member can focus on the business at hand.

Even in times of relaxed alert status for our military, you have stood ready and alert for the slightest of signs, perhaps overlooked or ignored by your civilian counterparts, signaling a potential change in the status of our military forces. As a military spouse, you have willingly packed up and relocated countless times, and may have been separated from your own parents and siblings for several years at a time.

Quite often, you have been placed in an unfamiliar ethnic or cultural setting, or a remote location. You have met this challenge with confidence and pride, making your nation proud of you. By the same token, you have extended your hand and hospitality to visitors to our country.

A country cannot count itself strong by its armed services alone, but must also depend on its civilians. With military wives and husbands setting a superior example through devotion, courage, and commitment, we are a nation of strength.

Military spouses … stand tall, stand proud … we salute you, you are truly our unsung heroes.

Thank you for serving our country....

I purchased a stamp set online about a week ago and the person I bought it from sent me this wonderful stamp... I just had to use it. These aren't the usual colors I would pick for a card with this theme.. but I love fall colors and I love America and all who serve her.. so I hope it will be well received.

We're talking all things "Red, White and Blue"...

America.. Land of the Free, because of the Brave. I recently got a new stamp set and wanted to ink it up. I think Red, White and Blue is fiting colors for this set.

I used a layout from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge SSSC115 here is the sketch:

Supplies used:

card stock: Stampin' UP! Real Red, Brillant Blue, White
ink: Memento Black
embossing Folder: Cuttlebug Seeing Spots
punches: Stampin' UP! small and large stars
corner punch: Corner Chomper
Brads: HL White
Ribbon.. not sure, something I've had forever
Stamps: Amuse Hero Mail
and Dimensionals

As I was typing this up, I heard on FoxNews that they are confirming that Osama Bin Laden is dead. Awesome job by our military.. they ROCK!!

"Godspeed" Soldier card

I had a card in mind and when I went to grab a stamp set.. I grabbed this one. I love any and all military and patriotic stamps, so when Stampin' Up! released this one years back, I ordered it the day it became available.

Fun and easy card to put together.Next time I might leave out the scallops and put three stars down that area.. a thought for another card.
