~ Congratulations ~ Baby card with Ducks!

This card was cut out using a Sizzix Movers & Shapers die. It cuts out the
four square window pane and the card itself.

I used a rubber ducky stamp from the Stampin' UP! Good, Good Gumdrops set and the Congratulations is from a set that I think is called Congratulations (it was a SAB set) I used the polka dot background stamp, clear embossed it, along with the ducks and the saying as well. The ribbon is white sheer ribbon and some so saffron grossgrain ribbon, both from Stampin' UP!

The card base is Baja Breeze. I used some Copic markers to color in the images.

~ Thinking Of You ~ Butterflies a flying!

I was getting ready to head to bed.. and seen some scraps laying on my stamping desk, and thought.. "why not make a card!" so off I went about creating something.. not sure if I like what I ended up with.. especially the corners hole piercing/white gel pen. The Signo pens I have do not work.. so I tried a different kind and the name escapes me right now. I liked how the lines on the butterflies turned out, but not the stitching stuff.. can't cut it off now if I wanted to.

I used Regal Rose, So Saffron and Very Vanilla cardstock. Regal Rose craft ink, clear embossing powder, medium and large oval punches, scallop punch, Regal Rose wide grossgrain ribbon, Top Note Bigz Die and a Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch. Essence of Love is the stamp set.

Serene Spring ~ A friend is what the heart needs card

I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do for a card swap I joined a while back.. I need to get the cards done like last week~ ha ha!

I started on this card.. the butterfly looks horrible in the picture, but not so in real life.. wonder why it came out looking so funny ~ anways.. I used a cuttlebug folder on this card that I had to remove from the packaging.. from which I purchased several months ago. Embossing is so easy and takes a few seconds to do.. and adds so much to a card, I need to do it more often.

The card using a Stampin' UP! stamp set Serene Spring.. cardstock is Ballet Blue, So Saffron and Regal Rose.. I stamped the image on Watercolor paper and cut it out using a Nestabilities die, for the rectangle and scallop layer as well.. and the circle is cut out using a nestabilities die too.

Remembering heroes on Memorial Day

Here is a poem I seen on a blog I follow..

What Heroes Gave
Each donned their uniform to be
Defenders of our liberty
Their mission sure, their spirits bright
Guard freedom’s home, be brave to fight

One final day each faced their call
Each gave their best enduring all

We’ll never know what they went through
but know they loved this country true
Deep down inside we should all feel
What heroes gave, their cost so real
We must stay thankful, grateful of
The gift of freedom through their love
Their loved ones bore the gravest pain
What we can’t know, some now sustain
To God I pray their pain will cease
And each will find long-lasting peace

Remember this from year to year
What heroes gave – shan’t disappear
We’ll never let their special day
Their time for honor slip away
These brave fought for a nation free
If not for them, where would we be?

"Celebrate!" ~ Graduation Card for Niece

Our niece is graduating High School in the next week or so and I wanted to make
her an "untypical" graduation card. I hope she likes it.

I used Watercolor paper to cut out using the BigKick and Stampin' UP! Top Note die,
embossed the leaves/flower from God's Beauty (SU Hostess set) in gold, used watercolor
brush, marker to wet/color paper, stamped in black on cardstock vellum the butterfly..
embossed it with clear powder, then colored on the back of it using wonderful watercolor crayons, then cut it out. The butterfly is on dimensionals in stacks of one, two and then three.
The "celebrate" is from an off the wall stamp set that I bought at JoAnn's (can't remember the maker) and I couldn't get the thing to stick to a block.. and had to use some repositionable stuff to finally get it to.. I embossed it in gold.. punched out the different oval shapes using SU punches and then layered them together. Punches out three 1/4" circles, and attached gold brads to them and the cardstock.. .. oops.. forgot that I had embossed the Regal Rose piece using a cuttlebug folder.. Always Artichoke is the card base.

BarS Hotdogs pretty durn cheap!

Now BarS is not a brand of hotdogs I usually buy.. truth be told, I haven't bought hot dogs in what seems like forever. I had gotten a steal of a deal on some Smithfield sausages and kielbasa's and just hadn't bought hotdogs.. however tonight I found a link to a coupon for $1.00/2 BarS Products.. the person posting it said that they had found these hotdogs at their Wal-Mart for only .55 cents.. I printed off 2 (use the back button on your browser to print the second one after printing the first) and off to the store we went. They were .88 cents.. .38 after coupons.. so it was still a great price. These will go nicely on our grill.. we'll keep two packs and share two packs with someone else.

http://www.bar-s.com/ click on the "coupons" link in the lower right corner.. it'll ask your name and email address, then a link to the coupon will appear.. click on it and print the coupon, then back up your browser and print it again.

Also.. I took 6 more $1.00 off any Reynold's Wrap aluminum foil coupons with me.. the label said $1.52.. and guess what they rang up.. $2.50. I told the cashier.. '''uh.. that's not ringing up the right price".. a csm comes over, I tell him what the label was.. he says he'll go check.. back he comes and after a few clicks on the register.. they were $1.52 and only .52 each after my coupons. since the label said $1.52, I am going to try another Walmart store tomorrow and see if I can get some more for only .52 cents before they raise the price.. they are $1.91 in the commissary, so paying .52 rather than .91 is a good deal in my book.

Happy Memorial Day

This weekend is Memorial Day, a day to remember those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Please take a moment not only this weekend, but every day to remember those who have laid their life on the line for our freedoms and libertys which we enjoy.

Also remember when you see someone who is serving in our military to stop and shake their hand, and offer a thank you for their service. Something as simple as that means so very much.

This video is a wonderful tribute to those who have given their lives for our freedom.

Got a roast a cooking for dinner... smells delicious!

I picked up a really nice roast a Food Lion awhile back when they had their chuck roasts on sale.. I paid like $4.00 and change.. anyways.. today I decided to cook it for dinner.

I took a little olive oil, couple tablespoons of butter and some freshly chopped garlic.. heated it in the pan.. tied up the meat and then salted/peppered it and then braised it in the pan. After braising I put in the pot one large onion chopped up, along with a whole bag of celery I chopped up and a small bag of baby carrots.. salted and peppered it.. after about five minutes I poured a can of chicken stock in the pot and then a can of Coca Cola.. after a few minutes I put the roast back in and put the lid on it.. it's been cooking for several hours and the meat is moist and falling apart.. I can hardly wait for Steve to get home from work so I can get the rest of the meal ready and on the table. Just wanted to share.

Buying up BBQ sauce at Harris Teeter ~ 10 for $1.15

I don't have a picture of all the BBQ sauce I have been buying.. only because it's stacked in the garage.. and I have already given away about a case of it. Harris Teeter has on sale this week Kraft BBQ sauce Buy 2 get 3 Free!!! The bottles are $1.69 each.. on the bottles are .35 cent coupons.. there was a limit of 10, so here's what I did.. the first set of 10 cost me a little over $4.00 for 10 bottles.. I used 4 of the coupons, since I was buying 4 to get the other 6 for free ~ then after I checked out it would give me a $3.00 off coupon on my next purchase.. head to the car, back in the door and grab 10 more.. the next 10 were only $1.15 after 4 .35 coupons and the $3.00 off coupon.. that included tax.. out the door and back in again. I have a coupon in my wallet now.. and was going to go again last night, but was so tired after me and Jackson had ran around for several hours doing this and that... and buying some Tech Decks for his friends birthday party which he is going to tomorrow. He came home from school and asked if we could go to Michael's and get them so we could use some 40% off coupons.. I have taught this kid well.

Happy Mother's Day ~ A Day at Lake Jordan

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world.. have a blessed day.
Lake Jordan in North Carolina was where we spent our day together enjoying
the time on the water in the boat together as a family ~ it was a fun day!

Awhile back I said out loud for anyone who was listening, that for Mother's Day I would love to go to the lake in the boat.. all of us. So today I got my wish. The day was supposed to be sunny with some clouds and then some rain.. we left the house in t-shirts/tank tops and shorts.. got to the lake and the temp was 68 degrees.. good thing I had packed a jacket/hoodie for everyone. Some of us put on our jackets when we got to the lake, but not long after, the sun came out and it got hot!

We took our tube with us and the kids each went for some rides behind the boat.. it was so much fun. The pictures above are some of the hundreds I took of the kids tubing.. Heather didn't want to get in the tube today and I wish I had worn my bathing suit, because I would've loved to have gotten in and rode around in it.
