What a BIG mess... and my card swaps.

I recently found a local stamp store that does a monthly swap. I decided

to make some cards to swap. I found out yesterday that there are 8 or 9

participating.. so today I set about making my cards. I had recently made

this same card design, but on a square card.. I love square cards, but didn't

think that others might like them.. so I opted to size it down to a regular

size card. The theme is flowers and brads.. there were other options you could

have on your card, as long as it had brads on it.. but I opted for flowers.

I haven't been doing too much for cleaning up after myself after making

cards.. and midway through making the things.. I realized what a mess

I had created... all good.. all good!

I hope that they like it.. tonight I was working on a shoebox swap card

to take to Sanford this coming up Saturday.. there is a SCS get togehter

going on that I am going to. Before I proceed with my card, I need to find

out about the DSP I want to put on the card.. then I can get things ready.

Christmas Cardinal Rose with Groovy Guava & River Rock

A few nights ago I took some sheets of cardstock that I had stamped a bunch of images on, along with one of my Pampered Chef Tool things that hold all my Bic and Sharpie markers. The girls had been watching TV and Jackson was outside shooting cans with his BB gun.. I sat at the dining room table to color and watch them all.. within minutes all four of us was at the table and coloring in the images.. this one of the Christmas Caridinal Rose I colored in using some colors I thought looked like the Groovy Guava In Color from last year. A few minutes ago I cut it out, layered it on some cardstock and matched it with some of the Ginger Blossoms DSP, that is retired as well as the Groovy Guava and River Rock cardstock. I tied on the ribbon and then couldn't decide what to do next with it when I remembered I had a gold marker pen. It's by Pen-Touch. It's a Quick Drying Metallic Ink... I outlined the whole image and drew in some lines and such.. I think it looks pretty neat and might just have to try it again.. the pen is super smooth when using it.

Season of Joy card using Snowflake Scallop Border Punch

Today I was in Michael's to find a punch for someone on SCS... and I was chit chatting with a guy that works there that was putting out some new stuff and one of the things happened to be a new EK Success Scallop Border Punch that has Snowflakes along the edge.. I got one, and seen it rang up for only $7.79, so I bought another.. it's it neat!

Now I'm off downstairs to cook up some chicken breast.. I am making homemade chicken soup for dinner and I need to get it cooking.

Trick or Treat Halloween Skull Card

I have been searching through all my stuff here in my room looking for my SU name tag.. It has my Stampin' UP! name tag one one side and on the other is the one I made when I went to the regional event in Tulsa, OK. I want to have it in case I go to the NC SCS gathering in Sanford in a week or so.. and I cannot find it! I have started at one side of the room and went around and started back again.. I am wondering if I took it to TN with me.. I already unpacked all that stuff.. maybe it's where my Ballet Blue ink pad is.. ha ha! Anyways, while searching, I was going through a drawer and found a sheet of this hilarious skull paper.. I used a skull die that is from Boss Kut to cut out the skull and used some eyelets to try and give it the big eye look like the ones on the paper. Super quick and easy card.. something to take my mind off searching for my name tag.

Life ~ Flowered card made using scraps

I was getting ready to clean off my desk from the card I made earlier today and thought I'd make another.. After I had stamped the flowers on the panels, they were really bigger then I had wanted, but I kept them anyways and just offset the two panels I had.

SC195 Live Your Dream card

This card was made using the layout for the SCS Sketch Challenge 195 I seen this set laying on the table behind me so I grabbed it and got the Afternoon Tea DSP paper that matches the set. I used the colors of Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi... the last two colors are retired SU In Colors from last year.

This is one of my favorite sets.. wish that it was in the big catalog, so others that didn't get it could.

Today I need to work on some card swaps that I want to do for a local stamp store that I found last Friday. The theme is either flowers, balloons or (oops! can't remember the other item) and they must have brads on them.. I only have to make 6 cards.

LIFE Scalloped Circle Card ~ with Flowers

This card started out as I had been reading a blog about how to cut and emboss in the BigKick/BigShot at the same time using the Nestabilities dies.. so I wanted to give it a try. It didn't work for me.. so I took what I had cut out doing it using two passes through the machine and decided to make a card. The Level 1 Hostess set Live Like You Mean It was the one sitting on top of one of the stacks of sets I have sitting on the table behind me.. so I grabbed it. I colored in the flowers using SU markers and cut one of them out to layer on top.. the wide oval punch was used on the LIFE stamp and layered on two other punched out ovals.. nothing fancy here.. just some cutting, coloring, stamping and assembling.

Nature Silhouettes Beate's WSC 58 card

I got this set a couple of weeks ago and tonight is the first time I have inked it up. This card is using the layout for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I already had the Soft Sky, Cholate Chip and Afternoon Tea scraps on the desk from another card so it only made sense to use them for this.

Boo Crew Halloween Card

Me and Heather went to a stamp store here in town.. the lady was so nice and it was a really fun place full of some wonderful stamps and samples. The lady said that she had someone that could make stamps.. so I asked Steve to get me an image of his unit insignia so that I can get a stamp to make cards for re-enlistment, promotion, etc.

We are off to the mall right now.. but earlier this afternoon I made this card using one of the stamps I got from A.C. Moore a few weeks ago.

Get Well Card for somebody special... .. remember ARC eBay Charity Auctions

My mom had surgery on her knee today.. she is home and recovering nicely. I made this tonight to send to her.. she might see it here before she gets it.. no peeking mom! I used the nestabilities I got the other day.. I got 4 sets yesterday using some Hobby Lobby coupons.. I had each of my kids buy a set with a coupon.. with tax and discount each set was $16.00. I need to figure out the exact sandwich to use in my Bigkick.. I have the Sizzix Texture Plate and Pad ~ the embossing doesn't look as defined as I think it should be.. it did turn out nicely, I just need to play with them. Anyways,.. this is the card I am sending to my mom in hopes that she has a speedy recovery.. she said today that she is going to have to have her other knee operated on too.

Please take a minute to check out my American Red Cross eBay charity auction listings.. 100% of the sale goes to the ARC.

UPDATE AMERICAN FLAG ON SKIBO: I forgot to mention this.. I noticed last week that the horribly faded and torn American flag that was flying in front of the Christian Book store and the Hotel on Skibo Rd. here in Fayetteville, NC was taken down.. this was a couple of days after I had said I was going to find out whose it was and ask them to take it down.. so I see that it was taken down and then a couple of days later I see a brand new flag flying.. Thank you to whoever replaced it! kudos to you!! please don't let this one get to looking like the last.

What's for Dinner?....... and .... Eat Drink and be Scary Halloween Card

I should start off with what we had for dinner... oh my gosh, it was delicious. It was some trout that my husband caught this summer when he went to the U.P. of Michigan to visit his grandmother, this was between leaving Missouri and coming to TN, then heading to NC. We have 5 or 6 bags full of these beauties. Steve and his Uncle Ludy went out fishing many times and always came home with fish. This was the only thing that I travelled to NC with in my cooler.. I made sure that they stayed frozen on the trip so that we could enjoy them once we got here. I pulled these out this morning and let them thaw.. . to cook them, I bake them after spraying with some Pam cooking spray, sprinkling with Lemon Pepper seasoning and sliced lemons inside.. they were SO very good.

After dinner, I came up here to watch a little TV and to try and put a stamp to paper. I made this card using a stamp that I got at A.C. Moore yesterday.. isn't the stamp cute. I got another one too. The skull is paper pieced after stamping the image on some Stampin' UP! Halloween DSP that is retired and cutting it out.

Be sure to check out my eBay Charity Listings ~ 100% of the sale goes to the American Red Cross. I have Stampin' UP! Stamp sets listed for sale.

Beate's Weekend Challenge ~ Christmas Cardinal card

I hope that I did this challenge correctly.. I thought that the main image was large enough, till I went to layer it and realized it seemed a little small.

It was a fun card to make, using Stampin' UP! Christmas Cardinal retired stamp set.. one I don't think I will ever part with, along with the Wintergreen DSP.

Here is the link to Beate's Weekend Challenge

Spooktacular Halloween Card

What a group of goons this is! their faces are so funny.. as soon as I first seen it in the catalog, I knew I had to have it. I stamped the image onto watercolor paper with stazon jet black ink, used markers and an aquapainter to color the images. Layered with Pumpkin Pie, Glorious Green and Basic Black. Fun and pretty easy card.. the coloring is the time consumer with this one. I am thinking of just stamping without coloring in the images and see how they look.

Remembering those who lost their lives on Sept. 11th

September 11, 2001.

Seven years ago today something happened so horrible, it's hard to talk about. I remember vividly that day and as I sit here thinking about it I am brought to tears. Many innocent lives were lost that day. Please take a minute to think about them and remember their families and friends.

I don't like to look at the pictures of the events of that day, it was truly a sad day for America.

One day, may the people of the world find a way to get along ~ peacefully.

Couple of cards using new stamp sets...

I wanted to use some of the new sets that I got while stamping tonight and grabbed for the set using the train stamp, Happiness is a Journey. I inked up the stamp with Kiwi Kiss and then some Red Riding Hood and then some more Kiwi Kiss.. I then spritzed it with water and stamped it onto watercolor paper. I did this three times till I got an image that I liked. I think that the color combo would be great for Christmas, so I think that I am going to remove the "thanks so much" (stamp from Pocket Silhouettes set) and put a Christmas greeting in it's place. I used some of the new Red Riding Hood Taffeta ribbon on the card and the layout is for the SC193 sketch challenge on SCS.

This next card is a 5" x 5" card and also uses some of the new In Colors.. Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango. I used the Pocket Silhouettes and Live Like You Mean It stamp sets.. oh.. and Polka Dot background too (love that stamp) I used some orange polka dotted ribbon I bought a long time ago in Springfield, MO.

SC193 Season of Joy Cards

I have always enjoyed doing the sketch challenges on SCS so when I got
the email last night about a new challenge being posted, I knew
I wanted to participate. I made these two cards using the Season
Of Joy stamp set.. not sure how much I really like either card.. I think
it's the colors.. greens are not really my favorite color, however I know
that my 11 year old daughter will probably love them since anyting green she loves.

Some new fun toys & another Pun Fun Bird-Day card

Wouldn't you know that as soon as I leave my house.. the UPS guy/gal shows up. I went to take the kids to the Dollar Tree, so that Jackson could get some trick cards, along the way there Steve called asking about a car charger for the Palm Treo cell phone that I had been using, but packed away when I bought a Centro.. the car charger I had was the one I bought at the Cingular store and I kept it in the Armada, so I needed to get one for him too.. however Walmart doesn't sell them.. the AT&T store does.. for $29.99.. yikes! I got it so that he can keep his phone charged.. the Treo's don't keep a charge but for a day... so when I got home, I had a sweet package sitting near the front door.

I will say that I usually expedite my orders and this time I didn't.. seems like it was two weeks ago that I ordered these goodies.. so when I opened up the box, I didn't realize what I had ordered and even looked at the Taffeta ribbon roll and said "I ordered Taffeta ribbon?"..

This is what all that I got:

  • Season of Joy (wanted this set so badly, but didn't buy it when it was in the mini, so happy that it's in the big catalog.. it's mine now!)

  • Flight of the Butterfly (I liked this set since I first seen it)

  • Nature Silhouettes (can't go wrong with a nature set)

  • Pocket Silhouettes (this was an awesome deal being on sale)

  • Tableau of Terror (the faces are hilarious, had to have it)

  • Live Like You Mean It (really like the Life stamp and the font of the saying)

  • Happiness is a Journey (the sample in the catalog was too cool to pass on this set)

  • Calendar Alphabet & Numbers (need this to go with my Mark the Date set)

  • Red Riding Hood Taffeta Ribbon

  • Wide Oval Punch

Here's another card that I made using an image that was already stamped and colored.. tomorrow it's new stamp sets.. . yeah!

I used some Silver Hodgpodge Hardware on this card.. and I don't think that the stuff really likes me.. in Missouri I dropped the box and the other day when unpacking, I dropped it and another box of hardware.. the stuff is a pain to pick up and put back in the container.

Room is to a point where I can now stamp!

It is now 10:30 pm and I am now to a point that I can stamp... all my paper is now put away, I made new file folders for the containers for the new In Colors, got all my DSP put in the holder (it's under the table, so might not be visible).. all the ink pads are in the holders.. all I need to do tomorrow is to break down the 30-40 boxes that are sitting downstairs that are full of paper, and take them to the recycle center... then it's "stamp on!" Oh.. that is after my visit to the Water Dept. to question that bill that I got yesterday. I have a few boxes here and there to deal with, but they are mostly books and such that I would like to either sell online or at a yard sale. I have a whole bunch of cookie jars, mostly all brand new in the boxes that I need to sell and already did sell a bunch before leaving Missouri.

I am going to leave it as it is for now.. other than putting up my Dale Earnhardt items, I am done.

have a great airborne day!

The American Flag

I am the type of person that while out and about on my adventures.. I notice businesses that fly their American flags mighty and proud. I also notice businesses that fly flags that are faded, tattered and torn.. this disturbs me so very much.

Right now there is a flag flying on Skibo Road that is in front of a Christian Book store and a Hotel.. it flies on a pole that is in between them both, not sure who it belongs to, but I am going to go there one day this week to find out and ask them to take it down. It is so badly faded and so torn, it's like strings hanging there.

My daughter told me that in her classroom that they say the Pledge of Allegiance to a printed off picture of the flag.. I gasped imagining that. So while unpacking my stamp room yesterday I found a new 3 x 5 flag that I am going to take into the teacher and ask that she hang it up, and if it is too large, I will gladly purchase a smaller one, but no more of the printed picture.

I have a flag proudly flying in front of my house.. makes my heart skip a beat with a feeling of patriotism and pride for those that have served for her.

I happened upon this picture that my husband took of a flag flying, along with one in the background, while he was in the U.P. of Michigan back in early July. He knows how much I love to see flags flying, and he took the picture of them for me. I just wanted to share..

hope everybody is having a wonderful weekend.. we are off to buy a whole chicken to roast in my Pampered Chef covered Baker/Roaster.. I was unpacking boxes yesterday labeled Arts & Crafts and what did I find, but all the new Pampered Chef stoneware pieces I bought before I left Missouri.. yummy roasted chicken via microwave in 30 minutes..

have a great airborne day! Pam

Got many boxes unpacked.. and a surprise too!

I have spent nearly 8 hours today unpacking boxes, moving things around and have ended up with a good portion of things where they will be. I need to bring two storage containers from the garage and shed up here tomorrow. I got to the bottom of the box with the Cricut Expressions machine in it and found a whole bunch of scrapbook albums and they go in the storage containers. I have three more boxes of craft stuff (I hope) .. one has the BigKick, Cuttlebug stuff and all my Cricut cartridges.. then there's another full of albums and one full of Designer Series Papers.. that is a big box that weighs a ton. I had unpacked so many boxes of stamp sets, thought I was done with them.. went downstairs and got a snack, took a break.. came back upstairs only to find another box of stamps.. what a sweet surprise!

I have a big pile one both ends of the room of boxes, but am hoping to get rid of them tomorrow.

I am well on my way to having things in place up here, so that I can get back to stamping.

have a great airborne day!
