OWH Sketch Challenge #117... Gus the Golfer ~ Dad card
The card I made today using this week's OWH Stars & Stamps blog Sketch Challenge #117.. uses a Gus the Golfer image I colored weeks ago.. it happened to already be cut down to this size.. so I crossed my fingers that I had a Nestabilities circle die that would fit.. and I did.. yeah!!!
I cut out the circle, then took the die and flipped it over, traced it and then cut that circle out.. I put dimensionals on the back of the circle so I could put it on the bottom layer..... I put on and took off that circle several times.. first it wasn't how I liked it, then I put it back on and then realized I wanted to sew around the outside of the bottom layer, so off it came again.
After picking some pattern papers, attaching them to the white layer, sewing around the edges.. I was set to put it together, but I had forgotten the two strips. I cut out the black layers and then some white panels that I embossed and flipped over so that the looked like the surface of a golf ball with the divots.
When I had it all put together.. I decided to add the DAD circle and then I was done. I love making golf themed cards. Every man in my family plays golf.
My husband, son and daughter were at the driving range earlier this evening.. it's a daily thing to be at the golf course or range and the only thing that would keep you is the weather.. ha ha. er. well maybe surgery too.. since I am having surgery tomorrow I am thinking that they might not be hitting the links tomorrow afternoon.
Here is the sketch I used:
For this card I used:
card stock: Neenah black #100 cover, white #100 cover
pattern paper: My Mind's Eye The Merry Days of Christmas "Old St. Nick", The Scenic Route Yasoda Street
ink: laserjet printer, asst. copics, yellow distress ink
stamps: Lizzie Anne Designs DAD stamp, Gus the Golfer digi from Bugaboo stamps
accessories: bigkick, nestabilities dies, embossing folder, sewing machine, circle punch, dimensional foam tape
thanks for looking ~
have a great airborne day!
God Bless All Our Military.. each and every one of them
Perfect...simply perfect! TFS!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. Nice coloring job on Gus!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we live on a golf course, neither of us play. (I never remember if I'm supposed to hit the ball when the dragon's mouth is open or closed.)
ReplyDeleteBut I still HEART Gus the golfer! The cards always make me smile and your attention to detail sets a super high bar!!
Good luck tomorrow; I'll be thinking positive thought for you!
Fantastic card! I really like how you popped the golfer out of the scene. Praying that your surgery goes well and the recovery is speedy.
ReplyDeleteI love your spotlighting take on the sketch, and the extra panel you added! The stitching looks so perfect too! Sending big hugs and praying that your surgery brings you the relief you need!! Take care!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Pam! The stitching and the embossing really make the card. Best wishes that your surgery goes well!
