... Hope your day is Par-fect... Golf cards for DAD.

I thought I better get to using the images that I stamped and took with me to the hospital the day of my surgery. I got 30 in all colored. Since my arm has hampered me from getting as many "Father's Day" cards done as I would've wanted to.. and most of the cards I have say "DAD" on them... I am going to go ahead and finish up these and then start on some patriotic thank you and birthday cards to fill up my box.

Here is the finished card:

I cut a bunch of pieces to make a bunch more cards. I used some pattern paper from a Golf scrapbooking kit by Karen Foster. There was only two sheets in the kit, so I am going to dig through some other papers I have to find some others.
My husband was kind enough to punch out all the circles for me.. it was a bit rough on my arm to punch them out.. and then I doubled them up and ran four at a time through the bigkick machine.. using my left arm was quite a site.. ha ha..

The sentiments that are stamped and punched out already.. will be turned over and the sentiment "Hope your day is par-fect" will be stamped on them, so they aren't Father's day specific cards.
Off to get these put together and then to find some more papers so I can get them cut and ready for assembling.

For these cards I used:

card stock: Neenah Cayon Brown #80 and #100 cover, white, Stampin' UP! Marina Mist and some pattern paper from a Karen Foster scrapbooking kit.

stamps: Stampin' UP! And Many Mower

ink: memento black, asst. copic markers

accessories: 3" circle punch, embossing folder, bigkick, modern label punch, dimensionals

If you have an XpedX store near you.. and it's still open.. or it's in the process of closing.. get there as quickly as you can. The store here in town is closing. I went there a few weeks ago and everything was 30% off.. today I go and everything is 75% off. A few months ago I had them do a special order for some Neenah Cayon Brown and Epic Black 100# cover for me.. because they had sold out and wasn't reordering anymore.. same with some International Papers white 100# cover.. I ordered two of them. I thought was set for paper forEVER.

*I got a stash of Brillant Blue card stock.. I ran out and someone had asked if anyone had any on SCS, when someone replied that they did, I contacted them and told them that if the other person didn't want it, I did. I bought 9 reams for $5.00 each. It is my favorite blue to use to make Patriotic cards.

Then I went to the store a few weeks ago and I came home with a whole box full of reams of different papers, all marked way down.

Today I got 5 reams of paper. These things were regulary $25-$47 and on sale for $7.15-$11.47. I bought two reams of the Neenah Cayon Brown 80# cover and they were only $10.27.. wowzers! I got a price check on one and then went back, they had one more pack and I snagged them both. I got a ream of paper that looks like confetti white and a confetti tan.. they were $7.15 and $7.45 each. The ream of Neenah 110# cover is a vanilla color and heavy, it will be really good for card bases. I bought a ream of 80# cover the last time that is vanilla that is good for layering. They gave me a special deal where I didn't pay any tax either.. I also got 4 boxes of the embossed card top layers. I made a bunch of Hero cards with these and plan on making tons more.. those were only $3.07 a box.

Look online to see if there is a store near you.. call them up and see if they are open.. if they are, you should ask if they are staying open for business or closing.. if they are closing, ask what percentage off they have right now.

If they are open and going out of business and they have Neenah 100# cover in Desert Storm in stock.. PLEASE buy me 2 reams and I will reimburse you.. it looks like Kraft. The store here had sold out when I went in the store in March and they were donig a buy 3 get 1 free deal at the time.

StampersBest ~ Classic VW Bus ~ I "heart" my DAD card

The sketch challenge on the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog for this week was posted yesterday... I have looked at it and looked at it and wasn't sure what I would do with it for a card. With the arrival of some new goodies from StampersBest today.. I thought I'd use one of the images I got.. a Classic VW Bus. I think that my family had one of these when we were stationed in Germany many, many years ago.. I say "think" because I can't remember, but I have some memory of one so we must have. UPDATE: my dad has told me that we did have one.

Here is what I came up with:

Here is the sketch layout:

For this card I used: stamps: StampersBest Classic VW Bus use code: airbornewife at checkout to save 10% on your order. Hero Arts stamp I "heart" my DAD
card stock: Neenah Cayon Brown 100# cover, Cajun Craze, White, JillieBean pattern paper
ink: Memento brown
accessories: brads, paper piercer, scallop border punch, brads and dimensionals

StampersBest goodies ~ THANK YOU card ~

I got a package of goodies today from StampersBest... I got a couple of gifts (thank you Susan) and the sentiment in the lower right corner was gifted to me yesterday by a friend who I had loaned a stamp/punch to. She came over yesterday to return the stamp and when she handed it to me, she handed me the other stamp as well and said it was for me (thank you Trish)... two stamps that I had missed putting on my order, were gifted to me.. I am so blessed.

here are all the new goodies that I got:

This is the first card I made using my new goodies:

I stamped the image onto an embossed panel that I had bought at XpedX last year,, then stamped the image again onto white card stock, colored in a section, punched it out, layered it and attached it on top of the first stamped image using Dimensionals. The main image and "Thank You" are part of a stamp set from StampersBest called Welcome Home... there is a "Welcome Home" sentiment in the set along with the two images I used.
If you use code: airbornewife at checkout, you can save 10% off your order... who doesn't love saving $$$$$$.

Here is a card I made last night:

I had the thought in my head while I was laid up earlier last week after surgery.. I was thinking of how I could be doing something instead of just laying in bed and watching TV.. I thought of punching out some 1" squares and then rounded two opposite corners on each and then making a quick card putting four of them on a card using dimensionals.. putting a button in the center and stamping a sentiment off to the side. I grabbed what scraps I had on my desk to put this together. I used a sentiment from a $1.00 stamp set I got at J's a few days ago.. the stamp wasn't stamping nice and clear the first few times I stamped it on some scrap paper.. I got it to stamp nice enough for me to make something with it and I will be sending this card in to Operation Write Home.

........ Father's Day cards...........

Surgery Update: My surgery went well.. I have a 7" incision on the backside of my arm with my elbow being in the center of it. It's pretty gross.. no, it is really gross. I have bruising all around it. It really doesn't hurt. I keep it wrapped up with gauze and a sleeve thingy that I used to wear under the brace they gave me. I am taking my meds and I think that has helped keeping the pain manageable. Sitting in church this morning was uncomfortable because I had no where to rest it.. and I had thought about bringing a small pillow or towel and had totally forgot about it and only remembered when we parked and went to get out of the Armada.

Now for some card stuff... I made this card last night using a digi stamp image that is "FREE" from the FreeVintageDigitalStamps blog.. Vintage Golf Guy

Last week sometime I made a bunch of this card:
I have the new OWH sketch in hand.. and am going to go see what I can create. I iced my arm earlier, so I should be good to go for now. thanks for looking ~

Merry Monday Card Challenge #16.... Christmas Wishes

Last week my card was chosen as the winner in the Merry Monday Card Challenge on the Always Playing With Paper blog ~ thanks Lesley ~ and I was asked if I would like to be a guest designer this week.... of course, of course!! what fun.

This is my card for this week's sketch challenge:

Here is the sketch I used:

I flipped the sketch sideways.. got all the elements of my card stamped/punched/cut out.. and then sewed around the inside of each panel, put dimensionals or adhesives on the pieces and put it together.

For this card I used:

card stock: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla.
paper: Lizzie Anne Designs pattern paper
ink: distress ink
accessories: sewing machine, snowflake punches, embroidery floss, buttons, bigkick, hero arts/sizzix die, corner punch for banner ends, paper piercer, red brads
stamps: Hero Arts/Sizzix stamp set, Lizzie Anne Designs sentiment stamp

I am having surgery today on my right arm.. I have something called Ulnar Nerve Entrapment and they are relocating a nerve in my elbow from the bottom to the upper crease... hoping that this gets rid of the numbness in my right hand and I can regain strength in my pinkie and ring finger.

OWH Sketch Challenge #117... Gus the Golfer ~ Dad card

The card I made today using this week's OWH Stars & Stamps blog Sketch Challenge #117.. uses a Gus the Golfer image I colored weeks ago.. it happened to already be cut down to this size.. so I crossed my fingers that I had a Nestabilities circle die that would fit.. and I did.. yeah!!!

I cut out the circle, then took the die and flipped it over, traced it and then cut that circle out.. I put dimensionals on the back of the circle so I could put it on the bottom layer..... I put on and took off that circle several times.. first it wasn't how I liked it, then I put it back on and then realized I wanted to sew around the outside of the bottom layer, so off it came again.

After picking some pattern papers, attaching them to the white layer, sewing around the edges.. I was set to put it together, but I had forgotten the two strips. I cut out the black layers and then some white panels that I embossed and flipped over so that the looked like the surface of a golf ball with the divots.

When I had it all put together.. I decided to add the DAD circle and then I was done. I love making golf themed cards. Every man in my family plays golf.

My husband, son and daughter were at the driving range earlier this evening.. it's a daily thing to be at the golf course or range and the only thing that would keep you is the weather.. ha ha. er. well maybe surgery too.. since I am having surgery tomorrow I am thinking that they might not be hitting the links tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the sketch I used:

For this card I used:

card stock: Neenah black #100 cover, white #100 cover
pattern paper: My Mind's Eye The Merry Days of Christmas "Old St. Nick", The Scenic Route Yasoda Street
ink: laserjet printer, asst. copics, yellow distress ink
stamps: Lizzie Anne Designs DAD stamp, Gus the Golfer digi from Bugaboo stamps
accessories: bigkick, nestabilities dies, embossing folder, sewing machine, circle punch, dimensional foam tape

Upcoming Surgery

I found out this morning that I am having surgery on Monday April 16th to move a nerve in my arm that is causing numbness in my pinkie and ring finger, as well as that area of the palm of my hand. The strength in my pinkie is about nill.

The issue is something called Ulnar Nerve Entrapment and it's been going on since early January.

The surgeon is going to move the nerve from the bottom side of my elbow to the top or side crease of it... hoping that it works.

.......... Dudley ~ Happy Birtday ..........

My card today is one that I made as part of a "Make Us Laugh" challenge on Dustin Pike's blog. I know that there may not really be anything that jumps out to make you laugh... other than that adorable Dudley image surrounded by lots of presents... however I am hoping that the child who receives this from their Mom, Dad, Aunt or Uncle.. or other loved one who is a deployed service member.. will put a big smile on their face and make them laugh... that's who I really hope gets a giggle from this card.

.. a birthday card I made for a special girl whose turning 13

I was asked by a friend of mine if I would make a card for her daughter for her birthday. This year she is turning 13 and she said it was a "big deal" to her daughter. She told me that she liked bright colors ~ flourescent colors and all things having to do with iPods/iPhones. The only set of stamps I had was a set I had bought a long time ago at JoAnn's on clearance and it has all the texting lingo and some symbols in it as well.

I cut out letters and numbers with my Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge ~ my favorite. Used all the bright colors that I had. The card is a 5.25" square and is a tri-fold card.

When I showed my friend the picture of the card earlier, I wasn't sure if it was what she had wanted or not.. her reply was "I LOVE IT!" and that she wanted to keep it for herself.. haha. I hope that Destiny likes it.

OWH Sketch Challenge #115.......... DAD

I got some awesome deals at XpedX on Friday.. reams of some gorgeous Neenah card stock cover that is 100#.. regularly $48 a ream.. on sale for $11.76. I also got a ream of #110 cover.. also by Neehan that is regularly $28 for $7.00 I went home with four reams of paper for less than what one of them costs.. yeah!

I used some of the new paper on these cards tonight.. it's a whiteish color that looks almost marbled... that is very light so it's great to go with black or blue.. or probably any other color for that matter.

I used the sketch layout from the OWH Sketch Challenge #115 for this week.. the card above is what I ended up with.. a DAD card for my OWH box for the Masculine Challenge.

here is the sketch layout:

here's another DAD card that I made earlier tonight:
