OWH Sketch Challenge #114.. You're A Classic

I made this card late Sunday night.. and when I had finished it my mom called and we were on the phone until long after midnight. Yesterday I didn't even walk into my stamping area and I seen it this morning when I sat down to color some images and there it was laying on my desk.

I used OWH Sketch Challenge #114. I am not a fan of the "diamond" shapes on cards, and I was going to pass on the sketch.. and then thought I would ground it with a square underneath.. and I liked that. I might make some more of these to add to my box of "masculine" cards to send in to OWH for the Muscle Challenge.

For this card I used:

stamps: Stampin' UP! Classic Pickups (retired)
card stock: black from XpedX, white and some Basic Grey papers
ink: Memento Black
accessories: hole punch, mini black brads, Modern Cube Punch and Dimensionals

OWH Masculine/Father's Day Challenge ~ Gus the Golfer

Operation Write Home has a new challenge that started a couple of days ago.. this one is "MUSCLE CARD CHALLENGE" .. masculine ~ Father's Day cards.

This is my first card to go in the box. Last year I made a bunch of "Dad" themed cards and so enjoyed making them.. I have many sets that are perfect for cards with that theme and I am anxious to get busy making some.

This card uses a Bugaboo digi stamp called "Gus the Golfer"... my husband and two sons are all golfers. During Spring Break they golfed every single day but one. They walked nearly every time as well.. that's a lot of miles.. I know because I went one of the days and it's like 5-6 miles for a whole 18 holes. My backside hurt so bad after walking all that way that it took me a couple of days to recover.

Used on this card:

Bugaboo Gus the Golfer digital stamp printed off with a laserjet printer

card stock: All Stampin' UP! Wild Wasabi, Real Red, More Mustard and White

paper: Stampin' UP! East Coast Prep Designer Series paper (retired)

acces: asst. markers, embossing folder, circle punch (I punched out two circles, glued them together before embossing them so that it was a thicker piece), a wooden golf tee that I cut in half using my old Ginsu knife.. I have the other half so I can make another card, and foam tape

A card for Emily... hope it puts a smile on her face

This past week I seen a post on Dustin Pike's Blog about making a card to send to a little girl named Emily.. here is the post on Dustin's blog that talks about this sweet little girl and all that she has gone through.

Dustin drew some adorable images and you picked one to use on a card to make and send to Emily. I colored in the image I chose a few days ago and tonight I set out to make a card for her. I hope it puts a smile on her face.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge... I LOVE YOU BEARY MUCH

The Midweek Throwdown Challenge on the OWH Stars & Stamps blog this week is a color challenge. The colors to use are Green and Yellow.

I learned something tonight.. I don't have much pattern papers in the color combos of Green and Yellow, or even green and yellow ones that I liked together... I started on this card shortly after 8.. it's now 11:50. I already had the image colored, so all I had to do was find some papers. I would've never guessed it would've taken me so very long to do so. I looked through hundreds, if not a thousand.. ha ha.. of pattern papers. I finally chose some that had Green and Yellow in them.. along with some other colors.

When I got to the sentiment.. I was too tired to dig through stamps to find the sentiment I wanted, so I just typed it up in MS Word and printed it out. Good thing I did because sitting here now, I don't think that I have a stamp that says "I Love You Beary Much".

This adorable image is from Bugaboo Stamps.. his name is Theodore.. ain't he cute as can be??

For this card I used:
stamp: Bugaboo digi stamp, typed sentiment
card stock: Brown from XpedX, white
pattern paper: My Mind's Eye Boo To You
accessories: Nestabilities dies, brown brads, hole punch, Peeled Paint Distress Ink, foam applicator, BigKick, Copic Markers and Dimensionals

Christmas card ~ Door with Wreath

I picked up this Memory Box door and fence (cut away the whole center rungs).. last week at a local stamp store and last night I cut out the door and fence, embossed the white and gray part, then sponged gray ink on the gray piece to look like a walkway. I found this wreath online and made it smaller.. colored it and then cut it out. Next time I color another wreath I will use different markers with finer tips.. that would've been a lot easier.

I like how it turned out.. it will go in my new box of cards to send to Operation Write Home.. I mailed a large flat rate box out earlier this week.

*PS. I just realized I don't have a door handle on the door.. duh. I am going to punch out a small circle and then put it on foam to raise it up and then apply some crystal effects on it to look like a door handle.

OWH Sketch Challenge #113.. Delicate Blossoms

I colored two stamped images from the Hero Arts Delicate Blossoms stamp set last week. I had been wanting to put them on cards.. but was trying to get some other cards complete to fill up a box to send to Operation Write Home.

I had to make a panel to go behind the flower panel to make up for the larger panel on the sketch.. I did leave off the ribbon stip on the left panel.. I was going to add ribbon but didn't think it looked right so I left it off.

I used this Sketch #113 for my card:

After making the card at the top.. I decided to make another using the other image. This one is an "I Love You" card.

CCC12 ~*HAPPY HOLIDAYS*~ Christmas cards

I am way behind on getting my cards done for the Christmas Card Challenge.. not sure why I am having a hard time getting 10 cards made, but I am. It's not that making Christmas cards are hard.. I just haven't been making "lots" of cards because of the numbness of two fingers and part of the palm on my right hand. I am trying not to have my elbow bent so much as to give the nerve that is being squished, some room.
Anyways.. last night I made one of these Snowmen cards.. and today I finished up the other 8 for a total of 9... and here is a link to card #10 that I made a week or so ago: Celebrating The Greatest Gift Of All... here is the card:

OWH Mid-week Throwdown Challenge... I MISS YOU

The theme for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge is "Miss You" cards. I have been working on this card for a few days.. the shutters didn't fit, had to cut them down, cutting those flowers took some time.. I would work on it and set it aside and then come back to it. Tonight I wanted to finish it up so I can move on to other cards.

The Occupational Therapist I seen this past week fitted me for a splint to wear on my arm at night and politely told me to lay off making cards for a month.. a month? I looked at her and asked if she was kidding.. she said no, she wasn't.. I then told her that I wouldn't spend as much time with it.. but I couldn't just quit making cards, that my friends just ain't gonna take place.

I have been wearing my splint every night, taking my meds and doing the exercises she told me to do. This is all in an effort to alleviate the numbness in my ring and pinkie finger on my right hand.. also that bottom area of the palm of my hand. It's been numb since January. They call it Ulnar Nerve Entrapment.. I call it annoying.

Anyways... here is my card.

After I finished up that card, I was messing around with a sticker and put this card together really quick. It's for Mother's Day.

Merry Monday Challenge #11... Snowman ~ Happy Holidays

I am getting this posted about as late as I could.. I would sit down to type it all up, then get up and go off and do something else.. finally sitting here after reading about a brave American Soldier whose fight came to an end today. My heart aches for the family. Please keep the Jarboe family in your thoughts and prayers.

The card I made tonight.. it's one of 9. I have everything cut out, stamped, colored.. etc.. but only assembled one so far. The Snowman image is one by Dustin Pike (digi stamp).. the papers are all Stampin' UP!, as is the ribbon, snowflake punch and punches. The brads are from HL. I colored it in with markers.

It is late and I am going to head to bed here shortly so I am not tired in church tomorrow morning.

I used the layout for the Merry Monday Challenge.

I "heart/love" my mom... set of 5 cards for Mother's Day

After making the "Queen" card last night.. I went ahead and cut up the pattern paper to use on some more cards.. a while back I had already cut and scored the card bases.. so I just needed to add something to it.. I chose a heart that I made using an Embosslit Die from Stampin' UP!.. it's a Scalloped dotted heart.. and I stamped a sentiment from a Lizzie Anne Designs stamp set and punched it out using the word window punch.. colored in the heart on the sentiment with a pink copic marker.. added some dimensionals and brads in the upper corner.. and I was done. I ended up making five of these to send to Operation Write Home.

OWH Sketch Challenge #112... It's Good To Be Queen!!

Yesterday morning my husband and I went to J's to see if they had some Nestie's marked down. Some were posting on SCS that their stores had some marked down. We found some two packs marked down and a really cool border punch (by EK Success).. and we had an additional 20% off coupon.. win, win, win!!!

Last year I was gifted a bunch of stamps by a sweet stamper.. in the lot was some Lizzie Anne Designs sets and this "It's Good To Be Queen" stamp was in one of them. I used a Crown Nestabilities die that I got yesterday.. and after cutting and embossing.. while still in the die I sponged some brown ink on it.

Here's the sketch that I used for the card:

I wonder what it's like to be Queen..... I bet it's good.. maybe great!!

OWH FB Challenge... Masculine Card... for DAD

Yesterday on the OWH Facebook page there was a challenge to create a "Masculine" themed card. I wanted to use a new punch I had gotten earlier in the day so I thought I'd use it on my card.

This card is in the colors of black, white and gray. The "DAD" stamp is from a Lizzie Anne Designs set. The tree stamp is from StampersBest and is called "White Birch".. use code: airbornewife to save 10% on orders. The punch is from EK Success called Modern Cube.

There are lots of challenges posted almost daily on the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog.. check it out.

OWH Sketch Challenge #111... ~*MOM*~

For this card I used the layout from the OWH Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #111 for this week. Since Mother's Day is the next upcoming deadline for cards sent in to OWH.. I thought I'd make a ~*MOM*~ card.

This was a pretty easy card to put together.. I picked the pattern paper, picked out coordinating card stock.. grabbed a stamp set and some of that luscious Purely Pomegrante ribbon.. aaahhhhhh.. and went from there.

For this card I used:

stamps: Stampin' UP! Messages for Mom

ink: Stampin' UP! Rose Red

card stock: Stampin' UP! Purely Pomegrante, Wild Wasabi

papers: Cream from XpedX, Bo Bunny A Gift of Love pattern paper

accessories: Foam tape, Purely Pomegrante Ribbon, Ribbon Scissors (so worth the $$)

Here is the Sketch that I used:

...a card for MOM.... "I (heart) My Mom"

While browsing through a bunch of pattern papers that was gifted to me last year, I pulled out this squggly lined and heart papers and went about making this card. The sketch for it is one I drew off a card I seen on a blog somewhere.. I doodle sketches off cards that I like when I see them.

On this card I used:

card stock: Ruby Red and I think the green is Mellow Moss from Stampin' UP!

pattern paper: My Mind's Eye "Be Loved"

cream paper from XpedX

accessories: EK Success Butterfly punch, brads from HL, Twine, Foam Tape

stamps: Hero Arts I "heart" My Mom

March ODBD Challenge for OWH... I "heart" my MOM

The ODBD Challenge on the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog this month is to choose three items in a row (from the chart below).. either vertically, horizontally or diagonally.. I chose diagonally with Brads, Layers and Ribbon.
What I used on this card:

stamps: Hero Arts Delicate Blossoms and I "heart" my Mom
card stock: Cayon Brown from XpedX, some off white creamy color paper I also got from XpedX, Hero Arts Hues Green pattern paper
ink: Memento Brown
accessories: Nestabilities die, Stampin' UP! Ribbons, and brown brads... shocker is that I didn't use any Dimensionals.. now that's a crime!.. I'll use extras on the next card.. haha.
