~ Imagination is more important than...

I was in Michael's today and seen that they "finally" put out some new stamping items. I didn't have a lot of time to browse, but my eyes caught a glimpse of some new Tim Holtz stamp sets. I had some 50% off A.C. Moore coupons and snatched up two of the sets. The set used on this card is Flights of Fancy.

I stamped the images in Versamark on Whispser White cardstock, then embossed them with black embossing powder. I used a sponge to sponge in from the bottom up.. More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and then Really Rust. The saying piece is embossed the same way and I used Old Olive on it and then distressed the edges. The butterflies are embossed too.

"Tulips" ~ Happy Easter Card

Back in January when my mom was visiting, we went to the Tuesday Morning store here in town and bought a bunch of packs of American Crafts papers for only $1.99 a pack. We bought 6 or 8 packs and divided it amongst the two of us. There was 22 sheets in each pack, so it was quite a bit we each ended up with, without spending a lot.

One of the pattern papers was this tulip paper ~ it's so bright and cheery. I made the scallop piece using the Stampin' UP! scallop border punch, the tulips were made by punching out ovals and then clipping them with scissors.. the stems were just handcut. The scallop circle and circle are nestabilities.

Cardstock: SU Perfect Plum, Ruby Red, Old Olive and Whisper White
Ink: Perfect Plum
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Oval Punch, Scissors, Nestabilties Circle and Scallop circle, Old Olive wide grossgrain ribbon, white organdy ribbon and dimensionals.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Card

It's funny how sometimes things work out. I had an Old Olive card base and seen the SU Pinch Proof stamp set sitting beside me and thought.. yeah, I'll make a St. Patrick's Day card.. so I get out the wheel that coordinates with the set and decide to wheel it across the top of the card.. and then decide that I didn't want to use that color.. so I pull out some Glorious Green pieces, cut them, score them and then wheel it on them in versamark, put on embossing powder and heat them up.
After doing this on all three card bases.. I decided to use this base first. I put a strip of (I think this is Kraft cardstock) along the bottom, stamped/embossed/heated it.. then put the eyelets on it. Then went about stamping/embossing/heating the three images in the circles... just had to punch some circles and put them all together.. the most time was spent with the embossing and that wasn't bad at all.

Another Butterfly Card ~ Thank You!

I had a bunch of butterflies left over from the last card.. I had cut them out and am going to use some on the inside of the the other card.. but when I set out to make another card.. I didn't care for the image I ended up with.. so after embossing the leaves on the Rose Red background piece.. I decided to make the card rather simple and just use one of the already embossed/cut out butterflies and emboss and punch out an oval "Thank you" from the Oval All stamp set that will be in the upcoming Occasions Mini catalog.. I punched it out using the new punch that also will be in the Occasions Mini.

~ Tiger Woods gives speech to honor military

Tiger Woods is someone that my husband and sons have always followed in his golf career. He is someone that they have looked up to and this morning I heard good reason just why this guy is so great. Both on the course and off.

I was listening to Neal Boortz this morning on the radio, on my way out to post to pick up my husband. Neal starts talking about how Tiger Woods had been invited to give a speech in the week before the inaguration of our current president. Neal read the speech that Tiger gave and it brought tears to my eyes. What an honor that he bestowed on all members of our miltary in that speech.

Neal noted that he never mentioned the incoming presidents name... the moment was all about the military. Thank you Tiger.

This is the speech Tiger Woods gave on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. during the festivities for the presidential inauguration. It was originally printed on www.tigerwoods.com.

I grew up in a military family -- and my role models in life were my Mom and Dad, Lt. Colonel Earl Woods.

My dad was a Special Forces operator and many nights friends would visit our home. They represented every branch of service, and every rank. In my Dad, and in those guests, I saw first hand the dedication and commitment of those who serve. They come from every walk of life. From every part of our country. Time and again, across generations, they have defended our safety in the dark of night and far from home.

Each day -- and particularly on this historic day -- we honor the men and women in uniform who serve our country and protect our freedom. They travel to the dangerous corners of the world, and we must remember that for every person who is in uniform, there are families who wait for them to come home safely.

I am honored that the military is such an important part, not just of my personal life, but of my professional life as well. The golf tournament we do each year here in Washington is a testament to those unsung heroes. I am the son of a man who dedicated his life to his country, family and the military, and I am a better person for it.

In the summer of 1864, Abraham Lincoln, the man whose memorial we stand, spoke to the 164th Ohio Regiment and said:

"I am greatly obliged to you, and to all who have come forward at the call of their country."

Just as they have stood tall for our country -- we must always stand by and support the men and women in uniform and their families.

Thank you, and it is now my pleasure to introduce the U.S. Naval Glee Club.

*Score!* ~ Nearly 13 1/2 lbs of Ground Beef for only...

I was in the commissary today and happened to look in the meat case. I seen a man putting out packs of pork chops and I asked him if he had some of the large packages of pork steaks... he went off to ask and I wandered about 6 feet down to the beef area, which is in front of the door that the man went through to go to the back. I look down and what does my eyes see... 93% lean Ground Beef with the bright orangish red tags that say "reduced" ~ they were packed yesterday, dated for today and marked more than 1/2 price.. from $2.23 a pound down to $1.01 a pound. I got 8 packs of meat that were all nearly 1 3/4 lbs of meat and only paid a total of $13.32 for all of it. I came home and vacuumed sealed each pack. I didn't get any pork steaks.. they were out.. but gosh, I was sure happy to have found this awesome deal on the beef.

"Go Green" ~ St. Patrick's Day Card

After dinner tonight (yummy Pork Tenderloin, Rice Pilaf, Peas and a salad) I cleaned up and then came back upstairs to do some more stamping. When my mom was visiting, we lucked out and got to get first dibs on the $1.00 clear stamps at A.C. Moore. We got Valentine's Day, Easter and St. Patrick's Day ones.

I used the "Go Green" shamrock and the saying from one of the sets. The clover leaf was stamped in versamark using a stamp from the Stampin' UP! stamp set Pinch Proof (really great St. Patrick's Day set) ~ and then cut out. The striped paper is from some ancient SU pattern paper (Sweet).. someone gave the pack to me a very long time ago and this is the first piece I have used from it. I used a new EK Success border punch along the edge. All Stampin' UP! cardstock used: Gable Green, Green Galore, White. Stampin' UP! square punch, scallop square punch. I used the square punch to punch out the ends of the paper on the "mock" ribbon.

~ Happy Easter ~ Bunny Rabbit Card

I finally cleaned up my stamping area today.. and thought I would sit down and make something. I used an assortment of items to make this card. I bought the Bunny Rabbit and Happy Easter stamps when I was in San Antonio, TX in February 2007. We had went there for Joel's Air Force graduation. The store was StampAntonio (I think that is how it was spelled) ~ I had read about the store and was so excited to visit it. It was a disappointment in that they were out of stock on so many of the AMuse stamps that I had wished to purchase. I was on my way out the door empty handed and seen these stamps and another.. they were buy 2 get 1 free.

The paper is Stampin' UP! Cutie Pie DSP, the row of eggs/grass along the bottom is a $1.00 stamp, the punch is one of the new EK Success border stamps, Nestabilities scallop circle and circle, Stampin' UP! cardstock and ribbon... and not to forget, the beloved Dimensionals!! (love em'!)
