U.S. Army Soldiers Show ~ Awesome!!

Since I don't let my kids go trick-or-treating, we always find something to do on Halloween.. last night I thought we would go to one of two churches right near our house that was having some festivities.. until I got the paper today and in it was a section that I usually pay no attention to. It had all the "stuff" that was happening around town and as far as Raleigh, this weekend.. and there on one of the pages was the advertising for the U.S. Army Soldiers show. I love to go to these shows.. they are always so full of energy and it is so thrilling to get to see soldiers performing all the songs and dance. To all of them that were in the performance,, job well done! ARMY Strong!!

Every show I have every attended as been wonderful and tonight was no exception.
As the show was nearly the end, they were starting singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic and then My Country Tis' of Thee... you know the one.. sweet land of liberty ~ gosh I love anything patriotic..

then came God Bless The U.S.A...

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
well There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

that I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Okay... thank you for indulging me by having the lyrics and song posted here.. this song means so much to my family and friends. God Bless the U.S.A... because she needs it now, more than ever.

McCain's Straight Talk Express came to Fayetteville, NC today

This has been a very long day.. I left my house at 10:45 to go pick up my two youngest children from school to take them to the John McCain Road to Victory Rally that was this afternoon in Fayetteville, NC. We got to the Crown Coliseum around 12 noon and waited till around 1:45 when we were escorted to the VIP entrance to go through the checkpoints. It was pretty neat with all the security, Secret Service, Sheriff's, Police Officers, TSA and Secuirty. We got in and found our way to the Military Spouses and Family section. We were seated in the fourth row up right behind the podium. I am hoping to find some video somewhere on the web to show my family, but haven't had a chance to look just yet.

Before the rally got started as everyone was coming in, I went around to some Veteran's that I seen and shook their hand and thanked them for their service to our country. This gentlemen is a WWII veteran. I believe his name is Mimms (not sure if I spelled that right)~ I was honored to meet him and all the other veterans that were there today ~ if you are reading this.. thank a Veteran and remember that Veteran's Day is coming up next month.

We were entertained by Hank Williams, Jr.. he did a fantastic job.. we stood throughout his entire performance.

Also in attendance was Lindsay Graham from South Carolina, Former Homeland Secretary Tom Ridge and others.. then Cindy McCain spoke and then John McCain.. it was so inspiring to hear him speak, to see others energized and ready to do what it takes to have this man as our next Commander in Chief.

During his speech McCain said

"Senator Obama is running to be Redistributionist in Chief.
I'm running to be Commander in Chief"

The crowd was made up of a lot of military members. The section I was in was military spouses and family and to the left me was military and so was the section to the right. The place was rocking the whole time he was on the stage.

USA on Nov. 4th Vote Values

This is a Non-Partisan Video, it is about Christian Values. Here is the

link to their website that will have other information about candidates

and how they stand on certain issues. VALUE VOTERS USA I seen the link for

it on a thread that I follow on SCS and thought I would share it here for others

to see. I have issues with certain things that a certain candidate thinks is

okay and is the main reasoning behind how I am voting November 4th.

I hope everybody has a great day ~ ain't it Great to be an American! God Bless the USA!

Stampin' UP's Shelli Gardner on a Utah TV show

When we lived in Missouri I would watch the Paint, Paper and Crafts TV show all the time on OPV.. we still get the show now, but Shelli Gardner isn't on it anymore.. there is usually CTMH presenters. I had actually asked Shelli about that when I met her in Tulsa.. she mentioned how much fun she had doing those shows. She was on a local TV show and featured some holiday dinner place settings.. fun to watch..

Rock Star embossed Card

I bought the Inkadinkado stamp set off of ebay last week ~ I had showed it to my kids online and they were like "yeah mom, get that set!" so I did.. it arrived a few days later. I made this card last night.. I stamped in black and embossed with clear embossing powder.. just cut out, layered and assembled.. nothing major.. I was trying to settle down after the debate last night and just wanted to make something quick.

SC197 Believe Snowman Christmas Card

My husband came upstairs while I was making this and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was making a card for the SCS Sketch Challenge.. he asked me what kind of card I was making and I told him a Christmas Card ~ he couldn't see it from where he was standing on the stairs on the other side of the railing/wall.. so he didn't know.. when I told him a Christmas card, he laughed and said.. "it's not even Christmas yet and your making cards" ~ gotta get em' done sometime and soon since it's already October.

I followed the SCS Sketch Challenge 197 for this one.. using another new Inkadinkado stamp set, actually two.. I also used SU Snowflake Spot, Sizzix Snowflake #2 die, Nestabilities Snowflakes Dies, Nestabilities Tag Die. Cardstock is SU Red Riding Hood, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black, More Mustard, White and Vellum. Ink is Brillance Black, Versamark, Red Riding Hood, Glitter Pen. Brad is from the SU Pretties Kit ~ and of course there is Dimensionals on this baby.. my favorite thing in the whole catalog!

A Family outing to Lake Rim Park

Way back in the early 90's the Tetreault family was stationed at Fort Bragg and we lived in a rental house on Rim Road. Nearby was a lake, Lake Rim, which we used to go to often to let the kids do some fishing for bluegill. One of the first things I noticed when we moved back here a few months ago was that they had built a Park area across the street from the lake and that there was tennis courts. This afternoon our family ventured to the park with tennis rackets and balls in tow. We don't really play tennis, it's more like somebody hits the ball and the other goes chasing it down.. every so often we are lucky and might hit the ball. This is something that everybody is involved with.. it's more like an act of exercise then the actual game of tennis. It's fun and we do it as a family so that really is all that matters. Here are some pictures that were taken while we were doing this "playing tennis" ~

After playing around on the tennis court, we went on a walk on the trail.. into the woods with nature all around us.. the trail was sand and some areas wooden walkways, at the end was water that flowed from the lake~ the picture where Jackson is resting his head on the rail is where we are at the end looking at the water ~ that bug was huge.. like 1 1/2"-2" long ~ here are some pictures of our walk in the woods.

This last one is my favorite.. a daddy and his girls walking hand in hand.

Thankful For You ~ Fall Colors Card

This past week has been a whirl of shopping and saving at A.C. Moore. They had 55% off coupons this week and me and Heather went there nearly every day.. one day twice! I shared many coupons with others that didn't have one. I bought a bunch of clear stamps.. which in the past I was never fond of.. problem being a Close to My Heart Army set that I have to put paper pieces under the stamp on the block, as shims, and that didn't always work. To me it was a waste of money.. it's like the center of the stamp sunk in. It was on a stamp that when I first got it, worked fine, and when I went to use it after a year or two of having, it wasn't the same.. so I thought all clear stamps were like this.. however I am finding out that is not the case.

I bought up a whole bunch of the Inkadinkado stamps this past week.. and me and my kids have been having fun stamping with them.. tonight I made a card for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #61.

I used Stampin' UP! Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Real Rust and Confetti White cardstock.. STazon Brown ink, SU markers Real Rust and Creamy Caramel to color in leaves and flowers. Nestabilites circles and scallop circle dies. Inkadinkado clear stamp sets: Harvest Expressions and Foliage Trails.

Trick or Treat Halloween Watercolor card by Jackson

Today I went to A.C. Moore.. more coupons in hand.. and happened upon a sign that their Inkadinkado stamps were on sale for $6.99 a set.. these are clear stamps, something which I wasn't too fond of. Course that was based on my experience of a Close to My Heart set that I have, which is junk. So I bought 7 sets.. couldn't pass up the deal. They were regularly $11.99 or $18.99. When Jackson got home, I showed him what I had got and he immediately wanted to make a card. He stamped and colored this whole card.. I just helped cut the cardstock for him.

This afternoon while in the local A.C. Moore store, I spotted the Sizzix Scallop Circle Die.. and I just happened to have a 55% off coupon.. couldn't pass it up.
I love this Stampin' UP! stamp set ~ Christmas Cardinal. I had almost ordered the new set that is in the Holiday Mini, but just didn't think I would use it since I have this one and love it so much.

This is a 5" x 5" card.. card base is Red Riding Hood, layered with More Mustard. Images stamped on Watercolor Paper, colored with SU markers and aquapainter. Dazzling Diamonds glitter attached with two way glue pen. SU silver organdy ribbon, Red Riding Hood Taffeta Ribbon, Silver Cord.. and Dimensionals.. my favorite item in the Stampin' UP! catalog.

U.S. Army Engineer ~ 20th Anniversary day in Military for my Husband

My husband Steve joined the Army on October 10, 1988. This Friday will be his 20th Anniversary.
While listening to the Presidential Debate tonight, I decided to do a little stamping and made this card for him. I embossed the Engineer Castle in gold and colored it in with a red sharpie. I used the Nestabilities to cut out the rectangles. The U.S. Army is from an Army set that I bought at A.C. Moore, I stamped it in Stazon Black and then embossed with clear embossing powder. The stars are gold cardstock from Stampin' UP! punched out using the small star punch, layered with a 1/4" black circle punch and embellished with a gold brad.

I hope that he doesn't see this before I give it to him.. he told me one day about a week ago that he reads my blog ~ I didn't know that!

Card made by my 10 year old son using Serene Spring

I had some card swaps kits leftover from yesterday and this afternoon my son asked if he could make one of the cards.. I told him sure. I think his card turned out better than mine. The only help I offered was when he asked when to use the dimensionals and he asked me how to use the distressing tool. He knows how to watercolor using the markers and aquapainter. I had typed/printed out instructions for each kit and had a picture of the finished card. He read through the instructions and got busy stamping, coloring and then assembling his card.

I am proud of him.. he loves to create.

Creeping by to say hi! Halloween Card

Stampin' UP! recently added the BigShot die-cut machine and some dies to their line. One of the dies is a Top Note Bigz die. I have thought about ordering it and a couple of days ago I wondered if there might be something comparable to the die on one of the Cricut machine cartridges. Accent Essentials had just what I was looking for. I cut this "accent 48" as they refer to it on 3 3/4" for the white layer and 4" for the black layer. I used the Web Wishes retired Stampin' UP! stamp set.. of which today was the first time it had ever seen ink and I have had this set for quite a while. Just color and cut out, layered on with dimensionals. I am just tickled that I can cut out shapes that look like the Top Note, and in any size I want.. yeah ~
